NOTICE TO DOG OWNERS – LICENSES ARE REQUIRED BY MARCH 31st

All dogs are required to be licensed annually by March 31st per Section 13 (2),  except as provided in WI Stat. 174.054.   The owner of a dog more than 5 months of age on January 1 of any year, or 5 months of age within the license year, shall annually, or on or before the date the dog becomes 5 months of age, pay the dog license tax and obtain a license. To obtain a license, simply remit a copy of your dog’s rabies vaccination certificate and the applicable fee of $6 for spayed/neutered or $11 for unaltered to: Town of Rice Lake, 1830 Macauley Ave., Rice Lake, WI 54868, or drop in either of the Town Drop Boxes located at the Town Hall.

Per Section 9 of Barron County Ordinance No. 2009-33 (Animal Control Ordinance),  all animals shall be kept under restraint and shall not be permitted to run-at-large. All owners shall exercise proper care and control of their animal to prevent them from becoming a public nuisance. In addition, Section 13 (1) states that, except as provided in WI Stat. 174.054, the owner of a dog shall have their dog vaccinated against rabies by a veterinarian at no later than 5 months of age and revaccinated within one year after the initial vaccination.
